THE TRUTH ABOUT SPAIN AIRBAG LAW
It is NOT a legal requirement to wear an Airbag Vest in Spain from January 2026
Headline: There is NO truth in the Internet rumours that wearing an Airbag Vest in Spain from 01 January 2026 is a legal requirement.
Truth: In a DRAFT reform of traffic regulations, the DGT (General Departement General de Transporte) included mandatory wearing of Airbags on large capacity motorcycles on national roads (ie, not when commuting in a city). Following objections from the Asociacion Nacional de Motoristas (ANM) and PMSV (Spanish Motor Vehicle Service) on grounds of cost and availability the Government reconsidered and removed the clause.
